The Middle East conflict has pitted entire groups against each one another. Geographical neighbors have been engaged in such fierce discord that bloodshed and political wrangling have been the result. The world, in response, has seemingly divided itself as either being for or against Israel and its neighbors. For those interested in supporting Israel, either privately or publicly, we have listed and then expounded on ways in which you can show your love and admiration for the country.

1. Support Israel by Strengthening Its Economy: Buying products manufactured by Israeli companies is a simple way to show your support. You can purchase things online or directly from companies based in Israel. Telma, Ahava, Osem and Elite are all brand names of Israeli-manufactured products. Purchasing them whenever you are able, would go a long way in “casting your vote” for the country.
2. Speak Up: One of the best ways that individuals can do to support Israel is to speak up. Consider writing and then submitting a letter to your local newspaper editor detailing the positive things about the country and the contributions it has made to the world. Engaging in polite discussions and simply speaking up when the occasion arises are other great ways to be an “ambassador” for the country and thus support Israel.

3. Support Israel by Knowing The Truth: There are many untruths spoken about the country. It is important that individuals always perform their own due diligence. There are very many objective new agencies and media sources which will provide you with a truthful reporting of world-wide developments concerning Israelis. Also, be on the lookout for great news sources which have no connection at all to the country but which are still objective.

4. Speak Out Against Media Bias: In some parts of the world, there seems to be a tremendous amount of bias in the media. When and wherever you can, speak out against it. This act alone can do a lot in the effort to support Israel.

5. Be Charitable: Another excellent way to support Israel is to donate to charities that are active in the country. There are many very good ones. Those of you who wish to give money or gifts should find a charity that you sympathize with and believe in and then give generously.

There are many terrific ways to support Israel. Speaking in defense of the country, searching out the truth, refuting and protesting media bias and being charitable are all ways to do support Israel. It doesn’t necessarily require a lot of time and effort, though both are appreciated. A willingness to do something when injustice and prejudice rear their ugly head is equally valuable.

So don’t hesitate – Support Israel now!

by Gavriel Queenann

Media outlets who misquoted US President Barack Obama on Thursday as
saying he expected a “full a phased withwrawal” by Israel to “1967
borders” are making a subtle but serious mistake, CAMERA said.

Citing an AP story filed shortly after President Obama’s Middle East speech CAMERA
said the article — only three paragraphs — packed the serious factual
error a whopping four times (“Obama says Palestine must be based in
1967 borders.”)

Three times the article incorrectly refers to the 1967 lines as
borders, while President Obama himself did not use that inaccurate
language.

The AP article began: “President Barack Obama is endorsing the
Palestinians’ demand for their future state to be based on the borders
that existed before the 1967 Middle East war . . . “

CAMERA points out no border existed between Israel and the
West Bank before the 1967 war. The lines, established April 3, 1949 by
Article III of the Israel-Jordan Armistice Agreement, are not borders
but armistice lines, temporary boundaries to be replaced in the future
by a negotiated, internationally recognized border.

The second and third paragraph of the AP article also refer
incorrectly to the “1967 border.” [Thus each paragraph of the brief
story, plus the headline, uses the incorrect terminology. -Ed]

As for President Obama, CAMERA notes what he actually said
was: “The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967
lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders
are established for both states.”

The distinction is a critical one because armistice lines lines are
immaterial in international law in terms of land rights and final status
agreements, whereas borders often can be legally decisive.

While CAMERA used the AP article as an egregarious and illustrative example of the error – numerous media outlets made the same mistake.

Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA)
is a media-monitoring, research and membership organization devoted to
promoting accurate and balanced coverage of Israel and the Middle East.

Welcome to Todah Yisrael!

“Todah Yisrael” means “Thankyou Israel”. It refers to the gratitude we should have to Israel for preserving the Word of YHWH and bringing His Messiah, our Lord & Saviour, Yeshua.

We want to echo the Reformer’s cry, “Sola Scriptura” – “the Bible alone!” These Reformers sought to bring the Church back to the purity of the revealed Word of God alone. They were determined not to allow anything but the Bible to be the guide in all things regarding the faith. Church tradition would no longer be given equal, or even greater, weight in determining God’s will for the Body of His Son.

Throughout the centuries denomination after denomination has stripped away tradition after tradition – many of them pagan. We were hoping that the modern Messianic movement would see the final stage of this journey in purifying the Body of Messiah of its pagan traditions. Unfortunately, many Messianics have simply replaced Church tradition with the traditions of the Rabbis!

The Rabbis have proved no surer guide to the truths of YHWH than the “Church Fathers”. Example after example can be given of the Rabbis taking on the traditions “of those amongst whom they dwelt” and applying them to Judaism. Often this seems to have echoed the adoption of these traditions by the Church. (Sometimes, it has been the Church taking on these traditions in response to Judaism doing so!)

We do not want to bring anyone into condemnation. Rather, we hope these pages will enable many to see more clearly what Scripture has to say on a number of our treasured traditions. Let us assure you that there are many scripturally acceptable traditions that will be a joy for you. As one believer has said:

“It is not even important that it is a command, it is enough that it pleases the King”

Seeking to please the King through His revealed Word

US President Obama to make an address on US Middle East policy soon

US President Barack Obama will deliver a speech on US policy toward the Middle East in the near future. This was confirmed by the White House spokesman. He declined to give a date for the address but said it would be very soon.

A source quoted by Reuters said that a key sticking point is whether the president will use the coming address to present new proposals for renewed Israeli Palestinian talks. Obama is due to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the White House next week. He is reportedly considering delivering the speech before he leaves on a trip to Europe later this month.
11.05.11 – 19:51
Kol Israel
